I was waiting once they were comfortably running <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/XBMC\">XBMC<\/a> in 1080p resolution. I have had them on use with <a href=\"http:\/\/openelec.tv\/\">OpenELEC<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raspbmc.com\">RaspMC<\/a> and recently liked OpenELEC a lot. I had to renew and do one installation from scratch.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lehtosaari.fi\/lehtosaari\/veli-pekka\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2013\/04\/berryboot-install-distro_thumb.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-222\" alt=\"berryboot-install-distro_thumb\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lehtosaari.fi\/lehtosaari\/veli-pekka\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2013\/04\/berryboot-install-distro_thumb.png\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.lehtosaari.fi\/lehtosaari\/veli-pekka\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2013\/04\/berryboot-install-distro_thumb.png 320w, http:\/\/www.lehtosaari.fi\/lehtosaari\/veli-pekka\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2013\/04\/berryboot-install-distro_thumb-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 85vw, 320px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>First downloaded <a href=\"http:\/\/www.berryterminal.com\/doku.php\/berryboot\">BerryBoot<\/a>. Installation with that goes smoothly, just formatted 8GB SD card to fat and extracted the zip to sd-card. Then plugged in keyboard, mouse, rj45 network cable, hdmi to monitor + Nokia usb charger to feed power. Selected OpenELEC and then some configuring. I added following to config.txt<\/p>\n<p><em>gpu_mem=128<\/em><br \/>\n<em>cma_lwm=16<\/em><br \/>\n<em>cma_hwm=32<\/em><br \/>\n<em>cma_offline_start=16<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>gpu_mem_512=256<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong>arm_freq=850<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong>core_freq=400<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong>sdram_freq=400<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong>gpu_freq=300<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em># Berryboot settings, do not change<\/em><br \/>\n<em>kernel=kernel_rpi_aufs.img<\/em><br \/>\n<em>initramfs berryboot.img<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Once OpenELEC booted up, selected OpenELEC OS Settings and changed Keyboard layout to fi and Hostname to bit better and under Services &#8211; SSH &#8211; Start ssh server at boot. Then rebooted and after that you can log in as root with password: openelec.<\/p>\n<p>Nowdays nano is bundled with OpenELEC so that you have there default.<\/p>\n<p>Now logging in with ssh you can verify the speed change with <code>cat \/sys\/devices\/system\/cpu\/cpu0\/cpufreq\/scaling_cur_freq <\/code>It should show 850MHz.<\/p>\n<p>More detailed you can get with following command<\/p>\n<p><code>for src in arm core h264 isp v3d uart pwm emmc pixel vec hdmi dpi ; do echo -e \"$src:t$(vcgencmd measure_clock $src)\" ; done<br \/>\narm:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 frequency(45)=850000000<br \/>\ncore:\u00a0\u00a0 frequency(1)=399999000<br \/>\nh264:\u00a0\u00a0 frequency(28)=240000000<br \/>\nisp:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 frequency(42)=240000000<br \/>\nv3d:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 frequency(43)=0<br \/>\nuart:\u00a0\u00a0 frequency(22)=3000000<br \/>\npwm:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 frequency(25)=0<br \/>\nemmc:\u00a0\u00a0 frequency(47)=100000000<br \/>\npixel:\u00a0 frequency(29)=154000000<br \/>\nvec:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 frequency(10)=0<br \/>\nhdmi:\u00a0\u00a0 frequency(9)=163683000<br \/>\ndpi:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 frequency(4)=0<\/code><\/p>\n<p>With vcgencmd measure_volts;vcgencmd measure_temp command you can determine the current voltage and chip temperature.<\/p>\n<p>If you wanna really push more, you can try settings in config.txt like:<\/p>\n<p>arm_freq=1050<br \/>\ncore_freq=500<br \/>\nsdram_freq=500<br \/>\nover_voltage=6<\/p>\n<p>but try safely one thing at a time. And remember, if you loose your filesystem undetectable, that almost always is because of overclocking or bad power supply. You can find more info from <a title=\"elinux.org RPI Config Overclocking options\" href=\"http:\/\/elinux.org\/RPi_config.txt#Overclocking_options\">elinux.org RPI Config Overclocking options.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>So basicly playing around with BerryBoot and OpenELEC is really easy. The only troublesome things are doing upgrades, as at least for now I haven&#8217;t been able to configure BerryBoot to do auto or even manual updates.
